2nd Injury Prevention Conference for the UK and Ireland
The 2nd Injury Prevention Conference for the UK and Ireland will be held at the Angel Hotel, Cardiff on 24th and 25th September 2009! This 2-day conference, organised by the Injury Observatory for Britain & Ireland (IOBI) will be co-hosted by Children in Wales, the Collaboration for Accident Prevention and Injury Control (CAPIC) and the Wales Centre for Health. The conference will focus on the prevention of injuries to children and young adults including those from accidents, violence and self harm. It will highlight evidence of good practice and successful implementation of programmes, and will focus on how the knowledge, policy or intervention in the presentation is, or will be useful for injury prevention practitioners and policy makers. The event will be of interest to injury prevention practitioners, researchers, policy makers, public health practitioners and voluntary organisations. It will provide an opportunity for people from a mix of disciplines, to come together and share evidence of current and future challenges and impact of injuries in today’s society. There will be sessions on topics including evaluation of local initiatives, prevention of home and road injuries, prevention of self harm and violence, injury data and research methods and how to engage policy makers. The conference will cost £150 for both days, or £90 for just 1 day. A limited number of subsidised places are available for members of the Child Accident Prevention Practice and Information Exchange (CHAPPIE) Network at a cost £55 per person per day.
