ENGLAND – Child hospital admissions due to injury

The Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) now contains an injury indicator for children and young people –

‘Hospital admissions caused by unintentional and deliberate injuries in children and young people aged 0-14 and 15-24 years’.

This is presented as a crude rate for hospital emergency admissions in the financial years 2010/11 (the baseline) and 2011/12 for each age group.

Note that the definition and age groups used differ from that used for the old ‘NI70’ national indicator so any differences should be interpreted with caution.

The data are presented alongside other public health indicators in an interactive data tool which allows users to view data in a user-friendly format and in particular to:

•              Benchmark local authorities against the England average
•              Compare local authorities against other authorities in the region
•              Download a summary pdf for a local authority
•              Download data for further local analysis
